Description
The RE320 is Electro-Voice’s answer to the mic locker’s most common problem: needing a different capsule for every source. Instead, it packs two distinct tonal characters into one rugged cardioid dynamic, courtesy of its “Dual Personality” switch. Flip between a kick-drum-optimized curve and a general-purpose voice/instrument curve without swapping mics.
Under the hood, a neodymium magnet element delivers strong output, quick transient response, and crisp high-frequency detail — qualities that make this mic equally comfortable on a snare, a guitar cab, or a broadcast vocal. Electro-Voice’s Variable-D geometry keeps tone consistent as a performer moves off-axis, so proximity effect doesn’t warp the sound the way it does on conventional directional capsules. A humbucking coil, shared with EV’s respected RE20 and RE27N/D, keeps electromagnetic hum out of the signal chain, even near noisy stage gear.
- Switchable frequency response: 30-18,000 Hz kick curve or 45-18,000 Hz general curve
- Cardioid polar pattern for solid off-axis rejection
- 150-ohm balanced output, 2.5 mV/Pa sensitivity at 1 kHz
- Humbucking coil for low-noise, hum-resistant performance
- Durable steel housing with a semi-gloss black finish
- Body: 216.7 mm long, 54.4 mm widest diameter, 49.2 mm body diameter
- Net weight: 681 g (1 lb 8 oz)
This unit is sold as open box — a great way to get EV’s studio/live crossover mic at a reduced price.
