The Earthworks M23 belongs to the M Series lineup that measurement engineers and system techs have relied on for years when accuracy actually matters. Rather than coloring sound, it captures it exactly as it exists in the room, with a flat, time-coherent response and fast impulse behavior that keeps transients honest and handling noise virtually nonexistent.
Built as a refined successor to EAW’s original SMAARTMIC, the M23 is at home wherever free-field measurement precision is required: tuning a live sound system, diagnosing room acoustics, or feeding data into analysis platforms like SMAART, MLSSA, Spectrafoo, TEF, and RTA, as well as measurement systems from dbx and DEQX. Its omnidirectional pickup and consistent polar behavior mean it captures the full picture without directional bias, and its performance holds steady across shifting temperature and atmospheric conditions.
Every M23 ships calibrated to the individual unit, complete with its own sensitivity figures and frequency response curve so you know exactly what you’re measuring with — and an electronic calibration file is also available.
