The SV33 sits at the top of Earthworks’ vocal microphone lineup, built for engineers who want a singer’s true tone on tape without added color or coloration creeping in from off-axis sound. At its core is a 14mm capsule paired with Earthworks’ patented polar technology, producing a cardioid pattern that stays remarkably consistent up to 80 degrees off-axis. That means a vocalist can shift position, lean into a phrase, or move with the performance, and the tone stays locked in rather than thinning out or shifting in color.

Rear rejection is a standout trait here — bleed from headphones, monitors, or other room sources at the back of the mic is pushed well out of the picture, while whatever does arrive off-axis retains an honest, uncolored character rather than the nasal or hyped tone common in lesser cardioids. A built-in windscreen keeps plosives in check, and handling noise is kept very low for hands-on tracking sessions.
Each SV33 is handmade at Earthworks’ New Hampshire, USA facility, finished in a low-reflectivity Nextel Dark Black aluminum body designed for durability under studio use. A flexible mounting bracket is included for stand or boom placement, along with a custom carrying case for storage and transport.
