The Heil Sound PR48 was engineered around one job: capturing kick drum the way it actually sounds in the room. At its core sits a 1.5″ large-diaphragm dynamic capsule, cardioid in pattern, mounted inside a vulcanized shock mount that keeps handling noise and stand rumble out of your signal path.

Drummers and techs get a practical bonus, too: the metal housing features a slanted XLR entry point, a small design tweak requested by touring drum techs that makes cable connection far less fiddly when you’re crouched inside a kick drum on a tight changeover. The mic outputs a balanced 600 ohm signal and wears a flat black emron finish with a red grille, so it looks as purposeful as it sounds.
