This PR77D is a demo unit in gently used condition, giving you Heil Sound’s broadcast-caliber dynamic mic at a lower price point without sacrificing performance.
Heil built the PR77D around a large 1-inch, low-mass voice coil paired with a neodymium-iron-boron magnet structure, delivering a flat, extended response with quick transient reaction and clean speech articulation. The cardioid capsule and carefully engineered phasing plug assembly push rear rejection past -40 dB at 180 degrees off-axis, so bleed from behind the mic stays minimal while the front pickup remains forgiving of natural movement — you can shift position without hearing the tone shift.
A standout feature is the two-position response switch on the body. Flip to Voice for a -6 dB per octave roll-off starting at 120 Hz, tightening up spoken word and cutting low rumble. Switch to Music and the filter disengages, opening the full 60 Hz to 16 kHz range for fuller-bodied sources.
Built for broadcast booms and desk mounts, the PR77D uses standard 5/8″-27 stand threads and outputs via 3-pin XLR at 600 ohms balanced impedance. Handling tops out at a hefty 148 dB max SPL.
