The Earthworks M23 is a measurement-grade omnidirectional microphone designed for engineers who need trustworthy, repeatable data rather than a flattering sound. As part of Earthworks’ M Series, it’s engineered for time-domain and frequency accuracy, staying stable across shifting temperatures and atmospheric conditions so your readings stay consistent from room to room.
Its fast impulse response and near-absence of handling noise make it a dependable choice for acoustical measurement, sound system alignment, troubleshooting, and room analysis. The M23 is essentially an upgraded successor to the SMAARTMIC previously distributed by EAW, and it’s compatible with major measurement platforms including SMAART, MLSSA, Spectrafoo, and TEF, as well as systems from dbx and DEQX.

Every M23 ships with its own individual calibration chart documenting open-circuit sensitivity and frequency response, and an electronic calibration file is also available. Earthworks recommends re-calibration every five years to maintain measurement accuracy over the mic’s lifetime.
