Description
The ND68 is Electro-Voice’s answer to the endless quest for a kick sound that doesn’t need three EQ bands and a compressor just to sit right in the mix. Its capsule is tuned specifically for low-frequency sources, delivering tight lows, laid-back mids, and highs with just enough snap to cut through without harshness. While it’s built for kick drums, it works equally well on bass cabs and larger toms where you need that same weighty, controlled low end.
Because kick mics live in rough environments — inside shells, near floor wedges, next to amp racks — EV built the ND68 to take a beating. A Memraflex tight-mesh grille shrugs off dents and impacts, while an internal humbucking coil keeps electromagnetic hum from speaker cabinets and gear racks out of your signal chain. The capsule also handles serious SPL, tolerating transients and sustained pressure up to 144 dB, so aggressive players and hard-hit kicks won’t cause distortion or breakup.
This mic draws on EV’s large-diaphragm N/Dym capsule design, refined for the ND Series to push dynamic mic performance further while keeping setup straightforward for engineers dealing with tricky drum mic placement.
