Description
The Audio-Technica PRO35CW is a purpose-built clip-on condenser for musicians who need reliable close-miking on loud, physically active sources like brass, woodwinds, toms and other percussion. Rather than sitting on a stand, this mic mounts directly to the instrument via the included AT8418 UniMount clip, which locks the capsule in place, absorbs handling shock, and shields the element from knocks during a set.
Its cardioid polar pattern focuses on the instrument it’s clipped to while rejecting spill from the sides and rear — a real advantage on crowded stages where horn sections or drum kits sit close to other loud sources. Thanks to a fixed-charge back plate condenser design, the PRO35CW can take an enormous amount of acoustic energy (up to 145 dB SPL) before distorting, so it stays clean even in front of a blaring trumpet or a hard-hit tom.
The extended 50–15,000 Hz frequency response preserves the character and dynamics of brass and percussion performances, while a switchable 80 Hz low-frequency roll-off (18 dB/octave) helps tame proximity effect or stage rumble when needed.
- Clips directly onto the instrument via AT8418 UniMount for fast, secure positioning
- Cardioid pattern isolates the source and reduces bleed from neighboring instruments
- Handles up to 145 dB SPL without distortion — built for brass, reeds, and drums
- Flat/roll-off switch for tailoring low-end response on the fly
- 55″ (1.4 m) cable terminates in a locking 4-pin connector for A-T UniPak body-pack transmitters
- Includes AT8418 instrument mount, AT8538 power module, and a soft protective pouch
Whether it’s saxophone, trombone, congas, or toms, the PRO35CW gives touring and studio players a compact, dependable way to mic hard-to-reach instruments without sacrificing tone or headroom.
