Description
The Heil Sound PL2T “Topless” boom brings a cleaner look to any broadcast or radio desk. Internal springs keep the arm perfectly counterbalanced, so you can swing your microphone into position and let go — no drooping, no creeping, no noise from tightening knobs mid-broadcast. It’s rated to support microphones up to 2.5 lb (1.6 kg), covering most broadcast and shock-mounted studio mics.
What sets the PL2T apart is its cable management. The boom’s top and back cover plates lift off, exposing a hollow channel that runs the length of the arm. Route your mic cable through this internal spine, snap the covers back on, and the cable disappears entirely from view — no dangling wires crossing your desk or distracting viewers on camera.
Mounting is straightforward: the PL2T ships with a standard C-clamp that fits tables up to 1.5″ thick. If you’d rather not clamp to the edge, an optional flush mount (sold separately) screws directly into the desktop for an even lower profile.
The business end of the boom accepts any Heil 5/8″-27 threaded mic clip or shock mount, matching the industry standard used across broadcast microphones. A chrome threaded stem lets you lock the mic clip at whatever angle suits your microphone and mounting hardware.
