Description
The ATM650 is an Artist Series instrument mic designed for engineers who need to get right on top of a loud source without losing control. Its flat, multi-stage grille lets you tuck the capsule in close—against a snare rim or guitar cab—so you capture more direct signal and less room noise.
Inside, a Hi-ENERGY neodymium magnet drives a frequency response shaped specifically for the punch and detail of drums, percussion and amplified guitar. The hypercardioid polar pattern tightens rejection at the sides and rear, which helps keep adjacent stage sources out of the mix and improves overall isolation in a crowded setup.
Audio-Technica’s dual-wall floating construction physically decouples the capsule from the mic body, cutting down on handling and mechanical noise while keeping performance consistent unit to unit—useful when you’re stocking a live rig with multiples. The housing is all-metal, built to survive the bumps of touring and daily studio use, and the XLRM-type connector uses gold-plated contacts to resist corrosion over time.
- Hypercardioid pattern for strong side/rear rejection and better source isolation
- Dual-wall floating capsule design minimizes handling noise, mic to mic
- Hi-ENERGY neodymium magnet for high output and quick transient response
- Multi-stage flat grille for easy close-mic placement
- Gold-plated XLRM-type connector resists corrosion
- All-metal build for long-term durability on stage or in the studio
