Description
The Audio-Technica PRO35 is a purpose-built clip-mic for instruments that are tough to cover with a standard stand-mounted capsule. Its fixed-charge back plate condenser element is small enough to disappear against a bell or drum shell, yet the cardioid polar pattern still does the heavy lifting of rejecting stage bleed from the sides and rear so the source stays front and center in the mix.
Because brass, reeds, and percussion can spike well past what typical microphones tolerate, the PRO35 is engineered to handle up to 145 dB SPL before distortion sets in, with a wide dynamic range that keeps quiet passages and sudden accents both intact. An extended 50-15,000 Hz frequency response preserves the character of the instrument rather than flattening it, and a switchable 80 Hz low-frequency roll-off (18 dB/octave) helps tame proximity boom or stage rumble when needed.
Mounting is handled by the included AT8418 UniMount clip, which locks the capsule in position on brass, reeds, or drum rims while isolating it from handling shock. The mic terminates in a locking 4-pin connector sized for A-T UniPak body-pack transmitters, with a 55-inch (1.4 m) cable and AT8538 power module included for phantom-powered operation, plus a soft pouch for storage between gigs.
