Description
The Electro-Voice ND86 is a supercardioid dynamic vocal microphone engineered specifically for large-format live sound — think arenas, festival stages, and high-SPL concert environments where a vocal has to fight its way through a wall of stage volume.
- Shock-mounted capsule: internal isolation keeps handling noise, thumps, and stand vibration out of the signal chain before it ever reaches the PA.
- Humbucking coil: hum-cancelling design lets you work confidently near amp cabinets, lighting rigs, and other EMF-heavy stage gear.
- Memraflex grille: a tightly woven, dent-resistant mesh built to survive touring abuse, drops, and rough handling night after night.
- Tuned frequency response: high-pass filtering trims low-end room rumble while targeted boosts and dips in the high-mids help the voice separate from stage wash and monitor bleed.
The ND86 draws on Electro-Voice’s large-diaphragm N/Dym capsule technology, refined for the ND Series to deliver a step up in acoustic performance over earlier N/Dym designs. It’s one of several ND models tuned for different venue sizes and stage volumes, so engineers and vocalists can match mic choice to room — and here, the ND86 is EV’s answer for the loudest, largest environments, where clarity and rejection of unwanted noise matter most.
Whether you’re mixing front-of-house at a stadium show or handing a mic to a lead vocalist who needs to be heard over a wall of monitors, the ND86 is built to stay smooth, present, and reliable under pressure.
