Electro-Voice engineered the PL35 specifically for close-miking drums, giving snares and tom-toms the attack and body they need to cut through a live mix or sit well in a studio recording. Its supercardioid polar pattern keeps hi-hats, cymbals, and neighboring drums out of the picture, so each drum stays isolated and distinct on the console.
