Description
The Heil PR35 takes the acclaimed PR30 capsule and builds around it with a shock-mounted design suited to broadcast booths, recording sessions, and live stages alike. At its core is a large 1 1/2″ low-mass aluminum voice coil paired with a purpose-built magnet structure, giving it the headroom to handle extreme SPL without breaking up or coloring the sound.
A carefully wound hum-bucking coil keeps the PR35 quiet even when positioned near video monitors or other gear prone to inducing buzz — a detail that matters a lot in broadcast environments. The phasing plug assembly uses evenly spaced ports that capture rear-facing audio and cancel it out of phase, producing a tight, linear cardioid pickup pattern. The payoff is reduced proximity effect and crisp articulation across a 40 Hz–18 kHz response, with off-axis rejection concentrated directly behind the mic (180 degrees) and minimal off-axis coloration elsewhere.
Since it’s a passive dynamic design, there’s no need for phantom power or outside DC — plug it in and go. A three-position roll-off switch gives you flat response, a gentle -3 dB cut, or a deeper -6 dB cut, so you can tailor the low end to the room or the voice.
