This is a gently used demo unit of the Heil Sound PR 77D in its distinctive purple finish — fully functional and ready to work, just no longer sealed in original packaging.
The PR 77D is a cardioid dynamic microphone engineered for broadcast booths, podcast setups, and studio or home recording rigs where clarity and consistency matter. At its core sits a large 1-inch, low-mass voice coil paired with a neodymium-iron-boron magnet structure, giving it a flat, wide-range response along with quick transient response and low intermodulation distortion — traits that translate into articulate, natural-sounding speech.
A carefully engineered phasing plug assembly delivers strong rear rejection, cutting off-axis sound at 180 degrees by more than -40 dB, while the front pickup pattern stays consistent even as the speaker shifts position in front of the capsule. That combination makes it forgiving for hosts and talent who move while talking.
A standout feature is the two-position response switch on the mic body. Flip to Voice mode for a -6 dB per octave rolloff below 120 Hz, tightening up low-end rumble for spoken word. Switch to Music mode to disable the filter and capture the full 60 Hz–16 kHz range for a broader, more musical tone.
Built to live on a boom or mic stand rather than handheld, the PR 77D uses a standard 5/8″-27 thread for mounting.
