Description
The Heil PR77D is a large-diaphragm dynamic microphone engineered for the demands of commercial broadcast, podcasting, and studio or home recording. Its cardioid pattern delivers a smooth, flat response across a wide bandwidth, with fast transient tracking and crisp speech articulation while keeping intermodulation distortion (IMD) in check.
At the heart of the capsule sits a 1-inch, low-mass voice coil driven by a potent neodymium-iron-boron magnet structure. Heil’s carefully engineered phasing plug pushes rear rejection at 180 degrees off-axis beyond -40 dB, so unwanted sound from behind the mic stays out of the mix. Up front, the pattern stays consistent even as the talent shifts position, meaning no tonal surprises as they move.
A standout feature is the onboard two-position voice/music switch. Flip to Voice and the mic rolls off low end at 120 Hz (-6 dB/octave) to tighten up spoken word; switch to Music and the filter drops out entirely, opening the response up to the full 60 Hz-16 kHz range.
Built to mount on booms or stands, the PR77D uses a standard 5/8″-27 thread and is not intended for handheld use.
