Description

The Rode NT-SF1 is built for capturing immersive, three-dimensional audio in one pass — ideal for VR production, game audio, and film work where spatial accuracy matters. Inside its brass body sit four 1/2″ TF-45C cardioid condenser capsules, each machined at Rode’s Sydney facility to tolerances under one micron and arranged in a tetrahedral array. This A-format configuration feeds an XLR 10-pin connector, with all four capsules running on standard 48V phantom power and covering a full 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response.

What sets this mic apart is what happens after you record. Rode’s free SoundField ambisonic processor plug-in decodes the A-format signal into B-format and beyond, letting you adjust polar patterns, steer the soundfield, and even fake shotgun-style pickup — all without touching the mic again. The plug-in uses frequency-domain processing rather than static correction matrices, so imaging stays accurate across the spectrum, and it can output everything from mono and stereo down to 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 surround, plus custom speaker layouts.

  • Tetrahedral array of four externally biased cardioid capsules
  • JFET impedance converter with bipolar output buffer
  • Self-noise as low as 15 dBA
  • Handles up to 129 dB SPL
  • Durable brass housing
  • Plug-in runs as AAX, Audio Units, or VST on macOS 10.11+ / Windows 10

In the box: shockmount, spherical windscreen, furry wind cover, a 10-pin-to-4×3-pin XLR breakout cable, and a presentation box.
