Description
Built in Connecticut as part of Telefunken’s Dynamic Series, the M82 was engineered to outperform the standard-issue kick drum mics that dominate most stage and studio racks. Its large moving-coil capsule is voiced for low-frequency detail, and the end-address design means you simply aim the headgrille — styled after the classic U47 body — straight at the source.
What sets the M82 apart are its two independent EQ switches. The KICK EQ filter is a passive network centered around 350Hz that pulls out the boxy low-mid buildup common on kick drums, letting the fundamental thump come through cleanly. The HIGH BOOST switch lifts the top end starting near 2kHz, adding roughly 6dB of lift by 10kHz — dial it in for extra beater click and modern punch, or leave it off for a warmer, vintage low-end sound. Because the two switches work independently, you get four distinct tonal options from a single mic.
While designed with bass drums in mind, the M82’s flexibility extends well past the kick. Its cardioid pattern and EQ options make it equally capable on percussion, bass and guitar cabinets, brass, organ, and even broadcast or vocal work — anywhere you’d want tailored low-end control with optional high-frequency air.
The body and headgrille wear a rugged black finish designed to survive repeated placement inside kick drums, on tour, or in the studio. Each M82 ships with the M782 stand mount adapter, a five-meter STMC-5R XLR cable, and a protective zipper case.
